The Shadow World

We've all heard it before. The fantasies about alternate reality, the double-life, the world within a world. When I was in University there were Philiosphy classes on reality and the shadow world and alternate dimensions. The Brain in a vat theory, the endless justifications and rationalizations to help us ultimately avoid personal responsability.

Little did I know that I would live in such a world. A Schizophrenic Country with dual personalities. An America which is no longer America. Playing along to fool everyone and no one. How many people know what lies behind the facade? There is no wizard pulling the levers behind the curtain, that much is for sure. No one wizard, at least. A collective of power hungry madmen perhaps. Anyone visible is just a puppet.

Yet we citizens plod along thinking we control democracy with our broken pots. We act, we do, we are but nothing changes. Our outrage is turned back by the wind. If you count them up there are so many things against us it is impossible to fathom. Yet they all point the same direction. If you count them up, each one being more than you can imagine dealing with in itself, there is too much to think about. It is overwhelming, so we bury our heads in the sand trying to convince ourselves that everything is normal.

But it is not is it? Bush is soft on immigration because there are no borders to defend, they've been given away. Our economy is stagnant and the false numbers, ever boasted of but never revealed, showing that we are a great nation don't exist. But it won't matter. "We the People" are but slaves. Wage slaves, might leap to mind, but not in that sense any longer. Slaves. Slaves of the state. Cowering, timid, fearful little people controlled in every direction by every means possible. Terrorized by our own Government at all levels.

Nevertheless they can't break spirit. Though they may control, marginalize, break us or worse Freedom will always be in the hearts of those that care enough to speak out. Watch for the signs of the Great Machine rolling over us. Pets will be tagged and then disappear. Our food will get more and more limited under the auspices of controling terrorism, disease, sanitation. Our property, that which we've worked hard to pay for all our lives, will be eaten up by rivers, streams, enviro-projects and wild habitats.

The old and familiar is gone. What we live in now is a sort of phantom pain state. The real shock will dawn when we awake to find our limbs--our so called "freedoms"--no longer there. No longer can we drive from A to B freely without Documentation, reasons or permission. No longer can we own the pets we want or garden in our back yard. Nor will we have the time. We will be struggling to keep from under the crushing debt to pay for the new world order--to help the third world become like us. Or will we become like the third world?

Turn out in force on November 7th. Help stop this shadow world from taking over further. We can no longer prevent it. It is bigger than us all. Yet, perhaps, we can limit its power, for now. We can show our current elected officials who've been asleep on the job--who've allowed this to happen over the past 25 years--that we are Americans, entitled to certain unalienable rights--Life, LIBERTY, and persuits of happiness (not limited to pleasure only). Vote out the useless old order and vote in the new. Party lines mean nothing. Dem. Reps. are both in collusion and both know nothing of what is happening under there very noses. Vote on issues not parties. Vote for change. Old out new in. It might not be perfect, but it is change. It is disruptive. It is action. All the bills on the floor now need to be tabled. Our lawmaking process need significant rehabilitation. And we need to show the Overlords of the World that we are still capable of standing up for ourselves and will not march to any tune but the fife and drum.
